What is PRINCE2®?

PRINCE2® (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a process-based approach for the management of all types of projects. The method is the de-facto standard for project management in the UK, is widely used in the rest of Europe and in Australia, and is rapidly becoming the recognized best practice worldwide. It was developed by the UK Government Cabinet Office, which also developed the MSP® (Managing Successful Programs) framework for Program Management and the global standard for IT services management - ITIL®.

The increasing popularity of PRINCE2® as a project management method can be attributed to it being fully scalable to any size of project, in any industry; its emphasis on achievement of value, with mechanisms for continuous justification against the project's Business Case; and its minimizing of project control overhead, using a management-by-exception principle. It has been proven effective across many organizations and their projects over the last several years.
